The opportunity

Help Sacred Share grow without losing its heart.

Since 2018, Sacred Share has walked alongside widows through practical support, trusted relationships, and meaningful community.

As the organization enters its next season, the Board of Directors will play an important role in strengthening its foundation, supporting healthy leadership, expanding relationships, and ensuring that growth remains aligned with the mission.

This is an opportunity to contribute more than advice. Board members actively steward the organization through governance, advocacy, fundraising, committee participation, and thoughtful engagement.

Leaders who can govern with wisdom and serve with humility.

Prior board experience is valuable, but it is not the only qualification. We are interested in people who understand—or are willing to learn—what healthy nonprofit governance requires.

We are intentionally building a board with varied strengths, experiences, communities, and perspectives. No individual board member is expected to bring everything the organization needs.

  • ✓Respect for widows, grief, privacy, and personal agency
  • ✓Wisdom, humility, curiosity, and emotional maturity
  • ✓The ability to participate constructively in group decisions

  • Advocate for Sacred Share and its mission
  • Volunteer for selected projects when appropriate

The discernment process

Board service begins with mutual discernment.

Completing the Prospective Board Member Questionnaire is an expression of interest, not an appointment to the Board.

After reviewing your questionnaire, Sacred Share will contact you to schedule a conversation. This gives us an opportunity to learn more about one another, answer questions, and consider whether board service may be a healthy fit for you and for the organization.

Additional conversations, references, board approval, orientation, or other steps may be required before an appointment is made.

The questionnaire helps us understand:

  • Your interest in nonprofit board service
  • Your understanding of governance and stewardship
  • Your skills, experience, and community relationships
  • Your connection to the mission
  • Your availability and capacity
  • Your comfort with relational fundraising
